Beyonce postpones Malaysia gig – cites small dressing room as reason

(TPT) – KUALA LUMPUR – U.S. pop star Beyonce has postponed a planned concert in Malaysia after concert organizers reportedly offered the star a dressing room only half the size of what she was accustomed to.

Malaysian entertainment company Marctensia said in a statement on its website that the Beyonce “I am…” concert, planned for Oct. 25 as part of her world tour, would be postponed to a date yet to be announced.

“The postponement is solely (the) decision of the artiste and has nothing to do with other external reasons,” the concert organisers said in the statement.

No further reason was given. Marctensia said a new date for the concert would be announced “shortly” and a statement from Beyonce’s management would be released later this week.

Beyonce’s “no nego” stance on her dressing room is legendary. She has kicked out lesser celebrities who stood in the way of her and her changing room. Lindsey Lohan was asked to vacate her dressing room backstage at Singapore’s F1 Rocks because the one she was occupying was the biggest one at the concert. It didn’t take much persuasion for the 23-year old to scram after A-lister Beyonce showed up with her 70-man security team. Lindsay was reportedly very upset over the situation, telling reporters, “I’ve been a bit down. It was a strange night. Everyone was being aggressive and bothering me. I really didn’t like it.”

Beyonce’s spokesman would later on say “Beyonce is sick and tired of having to put up with cramped dressing areas for her concerts. She’s one of the biggest stars in the music industry and anyway, do you have any idea how many outfits the woman has? If she has to kick some ass to get the space she deserves, well she’s going to do it. Look at LiLo”

Beyonce herself could not be reached for further comment.
