(TPT) – BALIK PULAU: Following statements by UMNO Penang UMNO Youth Treasurer Aziaan Ariffin saying that “We (Umno Youth) have lost confidence in him, and therefore urge Lim to resign as he is not qualified to govern this state,” Aziaan subsequently admitted that UMNO Youth “used to have confidence” in Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

“Actually I voted for Lim when he was contesting in my constituency as he was clearly the better candidate” said Aziaan who however quickly quipped that he would have voted UMNO if they had bothered to put a candidate for the elections.
Following DAP taking over of the Penang State Government, sources in UMNO Youth admitted that they were at first skeptical and then quietly submissive and then confident that the Lim Guan Eng was right choice for the job of Chief Minister.
Although several members had initially missed the “good old days of corruption”, most of the members had grown quietly confident of Penang’s future after seeing how the economy was now more organized and that crime had become less of a problem.
However, a skeptical Penang resident that we talked to said that UMNO Youth’s recent “loss of confidence” was only a blip in what was now blooming pro-DAP feelings of UMNO Youth in Penang. “They might still take part in a few more protests to show that they are anti-DAP but I bet they will still vote for DAP like all of us at the end of the day”.
