Zambry says Tree threat to national security
(TPT) – IPOH: The state government has branded the Tree as a threat to national security after an emergency “sitting” of the state assembly was held under it.
Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the tree might be “a tree of democracy” for Pakatan Rakyat, but he considered it a symbol of treason and a threat to national security to all Malaysians.
“They know that what they did was without consent, and thousands of them gathered under the Tree, leading to dangerous overcrowding. Extensive crowd-control measures and hundreds of reserve police personel had to be mobilised because of their irresponsible actions. This is irresponsible action.
“Their actions clearly show their contempt for the Federal government and to national security,” he told reporters after the state-level Care-for-Your-Greens celebration at the State Secretariat building here on Monday.
Dr Zambry said the rakyat should by now be able to see through the tricks played by Pakatan on them, led by former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.
“It is another example of clear and devious manipulation (from him)” Dr Zambry said.
When asked whether instructions had been given to remove the plaque and uproot the trees, Dr Zambry said: “I don’t want to answer your question.”
However, he said the trees were planted on road reserve, which was under the Ipoh City Council jurisdiction. As such a royal commission would be convened to discuss the implications of removing it.
